A place shaped by Madeira

At Les Terrasses Suites, we believe in a slower, more personal way of experiencing Madeira. Located in Calheta, on the island’s sunny southwest coast, our intimate adults-only retreat brings together contemporary design, nature and the freedom to enjoy every moment at your own pace.

With just four suites, we have created a peaceful and intimate setting where tranquillity, privacy and genuine hospitality are all part of the experience.

Les Terrasses Suites was born from a shared vision by Jorge and Gabriel, who found in Madeira not only a place to live, but a place to create.

The property was once part of a traditional banana plantation, built across the agricultural terraces that have shaped Madeira’s landscape for generations. During its transformation, there was one element they knew from the beginning they wanted to preserve: the original volcanic stone walls.

Rather than erase the history of the land, they chose to make it part of the new architecture. Today, the original volcanic stone blends naturally with contemporary design and has become part of the identity of the suites, even forming part of the bathroom walls.

In this way, the old terraces were given a new life and became Les Terrasses Suites: four individually designed suites surrounded by the landscape of Calheta and created for those seeking tranquillity, comfort and a closer connection to Madeira.

More than simply creating a place to stay, Jorge and Gabriel wanted to create a place where every guest could feel welcome, experience the island without rushing, and take a little piece of Madeira home with them.
